Sungai Congkak, Hulu Langat, Selangor

Visited Sg Congkak on 4 December 2017 with Anisha Susanna for a mainly birding trip. Sungai Congkak recreational forest is part of the Selangor State Park (Taman Warisan Negeri Selangor, TWNS), the Selangor forests adjoining the Titiwangsa Main Range. It was a rainy morning all the way from Petaling Jaya at 6.15am arriving about 7.30, still drizzling. I thought the day would be a total wash-out. But after a slow breakfast on the main road at entrance to Sungai Perdik, of pulut – glutinous rice – and some fried fish (lovely! – not many places serve pulut), the rain stopped. We started birding about 8.15.

Not many birds and definitely none publishable. We stopped for lunch about 1pm. Had a lovely slow lunch and restarted birding 2.30pm at Sg Perdik, also part of TWNS. Even fewer birds here. We stopped about 345pm when it was threatening to rain again.
