Birds are of the Peninsular Malaysian forests – lowland, highland or montane, and mangrove. Forest (and forest edge) birds are the focus because they are the most endangered because their habitat, the forests, have and are continuously being destroyed.

Bird names follow the eBird website of Cornell University. Many names (common and scientific) may be different from that of Birdlife International, Oriental Bird Images, or the field guide, Jeyarajasingam & Pearson’s, Birds of Peninsular Malaysia and Singapore (2012).
